MEET THE PERSON BEHIND THE TOOLS
Daniel Brooks
Technical Editor & Calculator Methodology Lead
I'm Daniel, the technical editor at Seam & Scale. My work focuses on calculator formulas, measurement conversions, numerical accuracy, and the logic behind our tools. I believe a useful calculation should be both understandable and verifiable.

About Daniel Brooks
A calculator can give you an answer in a fraction of a second. That doesn't necessarily mean it's giving you the right answer.
I'm Daniel Brooks, and my focus at Seam & Scale is the mathematics behind our tools.
I work on the technical side of fabric calculations, from measurement conversions and formula documentation to rounding rules, input validation, and the assumptions that influence a result.
One of the things I care about most is transparency. If a quilt binding calculator recommends a certain amount of fabric, you should be able to understand how it arrived at that number. If a measurement needs to be rounded up, there should be a clear reason for doing so.
That same thinking applies to our visual diagrams. The measurements shown in a cutting layout need to agree with the calculations behind it.
My work focuses on making those technical details understandable without overwhelming readers with unnecessary complexity.
You don't have to enjoy mathematics to use Seam & Scale. But I believe you deserve to understand the calculations you're relying on.
Daniel Brooks's technical editorial scope at Seam & Scale includes mathematical formulas, fabric measurement calculations, imperial and metric conversions, numerical precision, rounding rules, input validation, and calculator documentation. The technical editorial framework emphasizes reproducible results, clearly stated assumptions, predictable calculation behavior, and consistency between numerical outputs and visual diagrams. His assigned responsibilities include documenting calculation methods and defining test cases for sewing, quilting, and fabric-planning tools.

EDITORIAL CLARITY
What readers can expect.
A useful calculator needs more than an answer. The surrounding page should make the method, assumptions and limitations easy to inspect when they matter.
Calculator pages can document formulas, assumptions and source material.
Update information helps readers understand how current a resource is.
